The San Francisco Chronicle food section, where Mandy Erickson contributes regularly, in 2009 won best section from the Association of Food Journalists. In 2007 it won best section award from the James Beard Foundation for the second year in a row.

Mandy's restaurant reviews earned the Mountain View Voice a first place award in commentary and criticism from the California Newspapers Publishers Association in July 2005.

Mandy won third place from the Contra Costa Press Club in May 1992 for team reporting on a story about a man with a broken water pipe.

Mandy received the first place McClatchy Prize for In-Depth Reporting in 1990 for her master's thesis, "Victims of a Safe Environment: California's Asbestos Removal Workers."

During her first year at U.C. Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism, in 1988, Mandy earned the Reader's Digest Excellence in Journalism Scholarship, which was awarded to the three students who showed the best writing and reporting skills.
